Jeannette is a proud first-generation college student entering her final semester of nursing school at Sierra College. This spring, she plans to earn her Associate of Science in Nursing and pursue her goal of becoming a Registered Nurse in the ICU. Her passion for nursing began early while accompanying her mom to work and was strengthened through the Health Academy Program in high school, where she shadowed healthcare professionals. Alongside her studies, she works part time as a Starbucks barista. Thanks to the mentorship and scholarship from Boosting Hope, the financial burden of college has been eased, allowing her to feel supported and prepared as she enters her final semester.

Her determination carried her—asking questions, persisting through challenges, and believing in herself even amid doubt. Mursal’s journey shows resilience, turning obstacles into stepping stones. From navigating a new language and culture to mastering American education, she proves that talent, hard work, and opportunity together can transform distant dreams into reality.

Sierra is pursuing one of the universe's biggest questions at UC Berkeley, majoring in physics and astrophysics to understand the fundamental nature of reality itself. She plans to continue in a PhD program specializing in particle cosmology, contributing to humanity's understanding of the cosmos at its most fundamental level.
